Well, I'm back on it! If you haven't seen it yet I've been creating a little bit of buzz on the Internet. Recently, I was at a Major League Baseball Spring Training game between the Atlanta Braves and the Toronto Blue Jays, when all of a sudden a bat comes flying into the stands. I snatched the bat out of the air all while holding firm to my Red Stripe beer!

NFL Offseason Schedule

Since there are two months left until actual football is played, I thought it would be a good idea to present a list of Restricted Free Agents that are left out there.  Today is the deadline for old clubs to send tender to unsigned unrestricted free agents to receive exclusive negotiating rights for rest of season if the player is not signed by another club by July 22.  This is also the deadline for old clubs to send tender to their unsigned RFAs or to extend an offer to retain exclusive negotiating rights.  This is what the St. Louis Rams are up against in regards to Safety O.J. Atogwe.  The Rams have been in constant talks with the safety, but if they don't place a high tender or sign him to an extension by midnight, he will become an unrestricted free agent.  

June 1-11 begins all of the Organized Team Activities, while June 15th starts mandatory mini-camps across the NFL.  Late July is when training camps begin, and Preseason starts in August.

32. New Orleans Saints (13-3)

CB Patrick Robinson (Florida State)  

Interesting pick for the Saints.  They love the athletic, play-making cornerbacks, and Patrick Robinson is one of those types of players.  Look for the Saints to continue with their highly aggressive style of defense, which involves a lot of corner and safety blitzing.  Robinson will also contribute as a special teams player as well.

Why he's good for the Saints:

There isn't too much that the Saints need after winning the Super Bowl, but if there was one thing they could address, it's the defense.  The Saints get a proven play-maker who has the ability to change the game.  Great move on their part, and good pick for them because he would not have been around much longer.

31. Indianapolis Colts (14-2)

OLB Jerry Hughes (Texas Christian)  

Great move by the Indianapolis Colts... They pick up an additional pass rusher, one who I feel has all the tools to become a dominant rusher.  He reminds me of another Colt, Dwight Freeney.  Both of these individuals were viewed as under-sized, and while they will both struggle against the run, it is hard to dismiss the fact that they know how to get to the quarterback.

Why he's good for the Colts:

You can never have enough pass rushers, and with Freeney coming off a very serious injury, this is a very good pick.  This allows the Colts to rotate in a very good group of pass rushers, who will continually get pressure on the quarterback.

30. Detroit Lions (2-14)

RB Jahvid Best (California)  

This was a bit of a reach for the Lions.  I figured if they were making a move back into the first round, that they would at least do some more to shore up their defense.  Instead, they went after a small running back, who has great speed, but lacks pass catching ability as well as blocking skills.  He is just too small and injury prone to be considered a good pick at this spot.

Why he's good for the Lions:

While I don't feel this is a good pick, he does provide the Lions with a good play-maker.  He has the ability to beat the defense every time he touches the ball, but it is a matter of how many times can they depend on him to rush.  He has not shown a good ability to break tackles, and you definitely can't call on him to run in between the tackles, so time will tell.
