23. Green Bay Packers (11-5)

DE/OLB Brandon Graham (Michigan)

Although their biggest need right now is definitely offensive line help, the Green Bay Packers don't have anyone that is worth this value right now.  They opt to get more depth at the linebacker position, and Brandon Graham is their man.  This is one of the few teams that I believe will think long and hard about trading down in the draft to get the player they want.  With offensive line being a key need, and players such as Charles Brown and Bruce Campbell still on the board, this is a pick that goes either way.  If it does turn out that they stay put and draft Graham, this is still a good pick because they can still improve their pass rush.  LB Clay Matthews was the only player who consistently put pressure on the QB, and although fellow LB Brad Jones is a solid player, he is not a full time starter.   

Why he's good for the Packers:

The Green Bay Packers get a proven pass rusher in Graham, who has the ability to finish plays, as he showed over the past two seasons compiling 45 tackles for loss and 19.5 sacks.  Someone who he draws comparisons to, is fellow Michigan Wolverine and current Pittsburgh Steeler ,LB LaMarr Woodley.  He and Woodley were both considered "tweeners" and now Woodley has shown that he has what it takes to be an NFL linebacker.

19. Atlanta Falcons (9-7)

DB Kyle Wilson (Boise State)

With the signing of CB Dunta Robinson via free agency, the need is not as huge as it once was. But, with Kyle Wilson sitting there at 19, the Falcons make the move and make steps towards shoring up a secondary that ranked 28th against the pass.  Another need is definitely defensive end, with John Abraham turning 32 in a month, and Jamaal Anderson being widely known as a bust.   The problem with drafting DE at this position, is that there aren't any that I feel are worthy of this pick.  With Kyle Wilson, you get someone who can come in and start right away.  There are a few DEs that I see the Falcons targeting in the 2nd round.    

Why he's good for the Falcons:

If Wilson comes out and plays as well as he did in college, then the Falcons will be set for years at the CB position.  They need to stop the pass, and Wilson is the best on the board at this pick.  There may be a few other options here, such as TE Jermaine Gresham, or even DE Brandon Graham, but I feel like both of those would be a stretch. 

Inside the NFL Combine- Part 5

First story of today is Michigan OLB/De Brandon Graham pulling out of the rest of combine workouts.  Graham came into the combines hoping to put up some numbers that would increase his value, but was only able to complete the forty yard dash.  Graham did put up a solid 40 time at 4.69, but was hoping to run a sub 4.6.

29. Brandon Graham, OLB/DE

New York Jets(9-7)

Brandon Graham is not the biggest DE/OLB prospect in the draft, but what he lacks in size, he makes up for in technique and ability.  At 6'1, he does not have the ideal size to be an every down DE, but has the ability to excel as a pass rushing OLB.  He displays great hands and technique when fighting off blocks and uses his great leverage to get off blocks with ease.  He is a tremendous pass rusher, and an even better tackler at the line of scrimmage.  He finished with 45 tackles for loss over the past two seasons with Michigan.
