16. Tennessee Titans (8-8)
DE Carlos Dunlap (Florida)
With the most glaring holes found on the defensive line, the Tennessee Titans select Carlos Dunlap, who may possess some of the top potential in the draft. Dunlap, who was a huge part of the Florida Gator defense, possesses the combination of size, speed, strength, and athleticism needed to be a dominant player in the NFL. Due to his physical tools, Dunlap was projected as a top 10 pick, but the Titans are happy that he's still there. With DE Kyle Vanden Bosch leaving for the Detroit Lions this offseason, a huge void is created on a defensive line whose depth is very thin.
Why he's good for the Titans:
Besides the glaring need of more playmakers on defense, Dunlap has such great potential that it is hard to pass up on this talent. With good coaching and hard work, Dunlap has the chance to become the steal of the draft. With such a porous pass defense, the ability to rush the passer becomes even more important to this team.

Proving that he meant business, Detroit Lions H.C. Jim Schwartz showed up at the door of former Tennessee Titan Pro Bowler Kyle Vanden Bosch just after midnight. Schwartz and Vanden Bosch are quite familiar with each other, as Schwartz was the D.C. for the Titans during Vanden Bosch's stay with the team. Vanden Bosch arrived in Tennessee five years ago, and is now on his way to Detroit with a four year, $26 million deal, according to 104.5 radio in Nashville.

This is a very good move for the Lions. It shows the fans that they are trying to be active in free agency, and also that they are making an effort to turn this franchise around. No one wants to go to the games if they don't think ownership is making a conscious effort to win. Vanden Bosch will help to shore up a very below-average defensive line, and hopefully through the draft, they will be able to address some of their other defensive needs.

16. Everson Griffen, DE
Tennessee Titans(8-8)
When it comes to 4-3 defensive ends in this draft, USC product Everson Griffen is one of the first that comes to mind. At 6'3 280 pounds, Griffen is the ideal fit for the defense that the Tennessee Titans run. At pick 16, I feel that the Titans have the ability to pick best player available, and at the DE position, I think they need help. Griffen is very stout against the run, but does need to be a bit more explosive at the snap. Not the best pass rusher, but did manage 8 sacks this past season, and with the help of good coaching, he has a chance to become a very good NFL DE. He has a rare combination of strength and speed for a guy his size as well.
Why he's good for the Titans:
With Jevon Kearse and Kyle Vanden Bosch getting older and wearing down, this is the best fit for the Titans. Throughout the year, they battled injuries to their secondary and I think that they will be fine coming into the next season. With the 16th pick, the Titans have the chance to draft best player available and it will be a position of need as well. Because of injury, the Titans did struggle against the pass, but with this pick they can become even better against the run and get younger as well.

Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson became the sixth player in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season in a victory against the Seattle Seahawks yesterday. The second year player joins Eric Dickerson, Barry Sanders, Terrell Davis, O.J. Simpson, and Jamal Lewis on the list. During the game, Johnson also broke Marshall Faulk's record for yards from scrimmage. Johnson finishes the year with 2,006 yards rushing and 2,509 total yards from scrimmage, which broke the record of 2,429 set in 1999.
Congratulations to Chris Johnson, who was the real bright on an underachieving Titans team. The team was able to salvage something and finish with a .500 record after starting out the season 0-6. Johnson is one of the most electrifying RBs in the league right now and it is amazing he's doing this already in his second year in the league. The Titans will look to contend next year as they will definitely add a few weapons on defense through the draft as they really struggled against the pass this year.
